The East Norfolk branch of CAMRA has organised two Cider Discovery Tours and a special awards celebration, with more than 80 different real ciders and perrys available to sample across the month.

The events are timed to coincide with CAMRA’s national cider and perry campaign.

The first tour takes place on Saturday, July 5, beginning at Tombstone Brewery in Great Yarmouth at noon.

From there, participants will travel by bus to a series of local pubs – including The William Adams, The Dock Tavern, The Oddfellows, The Thirsty Crow and The Red Herring – each stocking real cider and perry.

The tour is open to everyone, not just CAMRA members, and is being promoted as a relaxed discovery event rather than a pub crawl.

Later in the month, on Sunday, July 13, the Blackfriars Tavern in Great Yarmouth will host a celebration marking its recent win as East Anglia Cider Pub of the Year – an award it has now claimed two years in a row.

The event will include live music, cider-themed games and quizzes, and an official presentation by senior CAMRA representatives.

Doors open from 11am, with the award expected to be handed over between 1pm and 2pm.

A second discovery tour will take place on Saturday, July 26, this time visiting pubs to the north of Great Yarmouth that are easily reached by public transport.

It starts at the King’s Arms pub at noon.

The tour is again open to members and non-members.

CAMRA defines Real Cider and Perry as being made entirely from the whole juice of fresh-pressed apples or pears — never from concentrate, and never watered down after fermentation.
